Lakeland University Announces Eitel, Aschenbach Post Top Finishes for Lakeland at Nacc Indoor Championships
RIPON, Wis. – Travis Eitel (Jr.-Pine Island, Minn.) and Dakota Aschenbach (So.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) recorded scoring finishes to lead the Lakeland University indoor track & field teams at the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Indoor Championships, which concluded Saturday.
Eitel finished eighth in the men's 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 3.24 seconds. He was seeded eighth in his heat but finished fourth, just .02 off his seeded time coming in.
Aschenbach finished eighth in the men's high jump for Lakeland's other point. He jumped a career-best 1.71 meters (5 feet, 7 1/4 inches), above his previous best of 1.68m.
Aschenbach recorded one of five personal bests reached by Muskies Saturday. Others to record PRs included Isaiah Malone (Fr.-Compton, Calif.), who cut three-quarters of a second off his best time in the men's 200 while finishing in 26.09. Eduardo Campuzano (Fr.-Hinckley, Ill.) also set another new best in the men's mile with a time of 5:09.76.
Emma Ziepke (Fr.-Manawa, Wis.) recorded the best finish for the Lakeland women's team, finishing 10th in the 400 with a time of 1:06.00.
Heather Klepin (Fr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) posted a new PR in the 200 with her time of 31.76, half a second better than her previous low. Chloe Cunningham (Sr.-Oviedo, Fla.) also chopped nearly four seconds off her previous best in the 400, finishing in 1:22.25.
The Muskies now get ready for their indoor season, which opens April 1 with the Wisconsin Private College Championships hosted by Carroll University in Waukesha.
