Lakeland University announces August, Hall, Nelson all named academic all-district softball selections
From May 17, 2023 post.
A trio of members of the Lakeland University softball team were named to the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) NCAA Division III Academic All-District Team when the organization announced its season awards Tuesday.
Juniors Skylar Hall (Negaunee, Mich.) and Hannah Nelson (Loves Park, Ill.) and sophomore Jordan August (Schererville, Ind.) all received all-district honors. The awards are based on combined performances in the classroom and on the field. To be eligible, the nominee must be a starter or regular reserve on their team, have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50.
Hall carries a double major in exercise science and biology, and adds to her postseason honors that also included last week being named first team all-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference as a pitcher. August also was an honorable mention all-conference catcher and is majoring in education. Nelson is a three-year starter as an outfielder and pitcher who carries a 4.0 grade point average and is majoring in sport management and leadership.
The 2022-23 Academic All-District Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 6.
