Kentucky Wesleyan College announces Men's Golf takes eighth at G-MAC Championships

LEXINGTON, KY - The Kentucky Wesleyan Men's Golf Team jumped up a place and shot a 295 in their final round to take eighth at the 2023 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships. 

Kentucky Wesleyan shot two rounds of 306 on day one to sit in ninth, but strong rounds from Evan Beery and Evan Schumacher propelled Wesleyan to their +7 final round finish. 

Sophomore Jonah Graham was strong for the Panthers, leading the way with rounds of 71-74-81 to finish with a three-round score of 226 (+10), putting him in a tie for 24th. Competing in his first G-MAC Championships, Ayden Gillilan posted Wesleyan's second best score, shooting rounds of 75-77-76 to finish in a tie for 29th with a 228 (+12). Tyler Nickol improved every round (79-76-75) to tie for 38th with a 230 (+14). After struggling over the first two rounds, Evan Beery closed with a 71 (-1) on his final round to tie for 49th with a 235 (+19). Closing it out for the Panthers was Evan Schumacher, who closed with a 73 to tie for 51st with a 230 (+20). 

The eighth place finish for the Panthers is their best finish in a G-MAC Championships since a 3rd place finish in 2018.

Ashland's Andrew Kolar shot a three-round score of 215 (-1) to take medalist honors. Tiffin and Ashland finished 1-2 and will take part in medal match play tomorrow for the championship.
