Kalamazoo College announces Sam Moss Selected SAAC Women's Hornet of the Week

Sam Moss of the Kalamazoo College softball team was named the SAAC Women's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Mar. 7).
The softball team hit the road for their season opener, traveling to Franklin (Mar. 5) for a doubleheader. Kalamazoo won the first game thrillingly with a 4-3 win in eight innings before falling to the Grizzlies in game two 5-1.
Moss pitched and was in the lineup for game one against the Grizzlies. In the circle, she went the distance in the extra inning affair, allowing three runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out five in eight innings. At the plate, Moss was 1-4 with an RBI double in the first inning. In game two, she was the starting shortstop and brought in the Hornets' only run on another RBI double, finishing 1-3 at the dish. Moss also converted on all nine opportunities in the field for both games.
Moss has appeared in 29 games as a pitcher for her career and has an 11-9 record with 12 complete games. In 140 innings, she has amassed 84 strikeouts and has a 3.85 ERA. In 71 games at the plate, Moss has a career slash line of .305/.371/.426 and has collected 68 hits, 11 doubles, two triples, four home runs, 41 RBI, 41 runs scored, 21 walks, and eight stolen bases.
Kalamazoo will next play on Thursday (Mar. 16) when the team starts its spring break trip with two games against Rutgers-Camden and Wisconsin-Stout in Winter Haven, Fla.
