Johnson & Wales University announces Wildcats re-write softball record books in historic 2022 campaign

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales (RI) University softball team broke six records during a 2022 season which saw the program capture the fifth Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship in program history and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

The Wildcats won a program-record 37 games against only eight losses, six of which came during the regular season, which broke the previous record of 10. The team also posted a team batting average of .398 – breaking the old record by 19 points – and their 356 runs scored shattered the previous record of 334.

Additionally, JWU belted a single-season record 49 home runs and drove in 323 runs, surpassing the previous records for round trippers (43) and RBI (311). Individually, senior Kaelani Gamble smacked a single-season record 13 home runs, besting the old record by two.
