Johnson & Wales University announces Lyons grabs second GNAC Rookie of the Week award

WINTHROP, Mass. – Johnson & Wales (RI) University freshman Madi Lyons has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Softball Rookie of the Week.

Lyons continued her torrid start as she batted .381 with a pair of home runs and nine RBI for the Wildcats last week in Florida. She belted a 3-run home run against Carnegie Mellon on Monday, then went 3-for-4 with a round tripper and three RBI in a win over Aurora. On Thursday, Lyons plated a pair against Heidelberg and another later in the day against Lebanon Valley.

Through 10 games this season, Lyons is tied for the GNAC lead in both home runs (two) and RBI (11).

The Wildcats (6-4) return to action on Thursday with a pair of games at UMass Dartmouth.
