Ithaca College announces Taylor Crain Earns All-Liberty League First Team Honors
ITHACA, N.Y. – Sophomore Taylor Crain was selected to the All-Liberty League singles first team as announced by the conference office on Friday, May 12. Crain was previously the 2022 Liberty League Rookie of the Year as she also a First Team selection a season ago.
Crain led the Bombers in the top singles spot with a 12–4 overall record, tied for most on the team with first year Sabrina Cheung. She picked up five consecutive wins to start the season and bounced back from her first loss with a six-match win streak.
She dominated her opponents as she had five matches where her opponent won two or fewer games. On April 21, she entered the NCAA Division III Region II rankings coming in at No. 6. Each of her four losses on the season came from top-five ranked opponents in the region.
Her most notable win came against current No. 8 Mya Lal of Skidmore College where Crain won a thrilling match 7–6 and 6–4. Her most dominant match came against Nico Gusac of Bard College, taking both sets 6–0 earning the double bagel.
The sophomore also had a successful season with doubles partner Caroline Herz, finishing with a 14–3 record and 4-3 mark within the Liberty League.
