Howard University announces Senior Spotlight Featuring Courtney Connolly

WASHINGTON (May 2, 2023) – Howard University sophomore Media, Journalism and Film major, Spanish minor Sareyah Rudd caught up with senior swimmer Courtney Connolly (White Lake, Mich.) for a quick Q and A session.

 

Q: How and when did you start swimming?

A: I started swimming about three years old because my mom wanted me to learn how to swim.

 

Q: What is your favorite part about swimming?

A: My favorite part about swimming is when you see a one (1) next to your name.

 

Q: What has kept you motivated these past four years?

A: Creating goals for myself has kept me motivated over the past four years. After my freshman year, I nearly stopped swimming, but I had unfinished goals that I wanted to accomplish and I achieve those goals.

 

Q: Why did you choose Howard?

A: I chose Howard because of the culture and the experience of being on an all-black swim team.

 

Q: What is one thing you will miss about Howard?

A: I will miss making memories with my teammates.

 

Q: Favorite swimming and/or Howard memory?

A: My favorite swim memory was seeing my teammates at the end of my lane after I won the 100 butterfly at the Northeast Conference Championships.

 

Q: What are your plans after graduation?

A: I plan is to stay in the DMV area and start my career in the supply chain industry.

 

Q: The most special thing about Howard?

A: The most special thing about Howard is the spring semester on the yard.

 

Q: Any parting words for the rest of the team?

A: My advice is enjoy every second because it goes by quicker than you think.
