Hope College University announces Men's Track/Field Posts Six Season-Best Efforts at Davenport Tune Up

Senior Nathan Woolum and freshman Wyatt Marsh each clocked team season-best and first-place times for the Hope College men's outdoor track and field team at the Davenport University Tune Up this weekend.

Woolum (Mattawan, Michigan / Mattawan HS) won the 400-meter hurdles in 53.71 seconds and topped his previous top mark for the season by 3 ½ seconds.

The run ranks 14th in NCAA Division III this season.

Marsh (Grand Blanc, Michigan / Fenton) topped his best time in the 400 meters by a half second with a first-place effort of 49.71 seconds during the two-day, non-scoring meet on Friday and Saturday.

The Flying Dutchmen also recorded season-best efforts in four field events.

In the triple jump, Woolum finished runner-up with a season-best leap of 13.11 meters (43 feet, 3 1/4) inches). Sophomore Aidan Kyle (Weston, Connecticut / Weston) was fifth at 12.11 meters (39-8 3/4).

In the long jump, senior Jackson Player (San Antonio, Texas, Winston Churchill) finished fourth with a team season-best leap of 6.37 meters (20-10 ¾). Kyle also placed sixth at 6.05 meters (19-10 ¼). Woolum was eighth at 5.87 meters (19-3 ¼).

In the discus, freshman Carter Kruse (Rochester, Michigan / Warren De La Salle) recorded a team-best season-best toss of 40.65 meters (133-4) and placed sixth. 

In the shot put, freshman Brendyn Mroz (Grandville, Michigan / Grandville) posted a team-best heave of 10.30 meters (33-9 ½). He was 23rd.

Hope recorded a third-place run in the 4x100 relay as sophomore Alex Daniels (Holland, Michigan / Holland), sophomore Nolan Sanders (Midland, Michigan / H.H. Dow), sophomore David McNiff (Norton Shores, Michigan  Mona Shores) and freshman Liam Danitz (West Branch, Michigan / Ogemaw Heights) clocked a time of 42.67 seconds.

In the 200 meters, Danitz finished runner-up at 21.89 meters. Daniels was seventh at 22.73.

In the 100 meters, Danitz placed fourth at 10.89 seconds. Daniels was eighth at 11.17.

In the 110-meter hurdles, Player recorded a fourth-place run of 15.22 seconds.

In the 400 hurdles, sophomore Samuel Miller (Zionsville, Indiana / Zionsville) and sophomore Joshua Ennen (Zeeland, Michigan / Zeeland West) joined Player in the top six. Miller finished fifth at 59.42. Ennen was sixth at 58.51.

In the 800 meters, freshman Erickson Kunzler (Marne, Michigan / Grand Rapids Catholic Central) clocked a fifth-place run of 1:57.84. Sophomore Tyler King (Villa Park, Ilinois / Willowbrook) was sixth at 1;58.90. 

Hope's next meet will be the MIAA Outdoor Championships on Thursday-Friday, May 4-5, at Olivet College.
