Hope College announces Lucas Guidone Wins 800 Meters; Men's Track/Field Places Fifth at Kennesaw State Invitational
Hope College's Lucas Guidone clocked a season-best and first-place time in the 800 meters at the Kennesaw State University Don McGarey Invitational on Saturday in Kennesaw, Georgia.
The sophomore from Chicago, Illinois (Taft HS) finished in a season-best 1 minute, 52.66 seconds to place first among a field of 31 runners that featured schools from NCAA Division I, II and III schools.
The Flying Dutchmen took fifth out of 14 teams at the two-day meet with 42 points. Hope scored in seven events.
Sophomore Connor Vachon (Jenison, Michigan / Jenison) joined Guidone in scoring in the 800 with a seventh-place run of 1:54.78.
In the 3,000 meter steeplechase, junior Dan Campbell (Brighton, Michigan / Brighton) recorded a second-place run of 9:40.31. Freshman Jonathan Harlow (Holland, Michigan / Home School) was fifth at 10:22.60.
In the 1,500 meters, Vachon took third by clocking a time of 3:55.20. Freshman Carston Cole (Holland, Michigan / West Ottawa) was fifth at 3:58.17.
In the 400 hurdles, senior Nathan Woolum (Mattawan, Michigan / Mattawan) placed sixth with a run of 57.05 seconds.
In the 110 hurdles, senior Jackson Player (San Antonio, Texas / Winston Churchill) finished seventh by posting a time of 15.10 seconds.
In the 4x100 relay, sophomore Alex Daniels (Holland, Michigan / Holland), freshman Nolan Sanders (Midland, Michigan / H.H. Dow), sophomore David McNiff (Norton Shores, Michigan / Mona Shores), and freshman Liam Danitz (West Branch, Michigan / Ogemaw Heights) recorded a seventh-place run of 43.28 seconds.
In the javelin, sophomore Aidan Kyle placed eighth with a toss of 47.60 meters (156 feet, 2 inches).
Hope's next meet is on Saturday, April 8, at Indiana Tech.
