Holy Family University announces Men’s Track & Field Places Third at CACC Championship for Second Year in a Row

The HFU men's track & field team finished third at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship for the second year in a row. 


The Tigers' 135 points were more than double than that of fourth place Jefferson, trailing only champion Wilmington (184) and second place Georgian Court (174). 

 

  • Terrence Jones (East Orange, N.J./William Allen/LCTI) accumulated a team-high 28 points with five top finishes, highlighted by winning gold in the 110m hurdles, silver in 400m hurdles and bronze in the triple jump
    • He also placed fifth in the high jump  
  • Nishorn Pierre (Grenada/Jamaica College) won two gold medals, in the high jump and a triple jump, along with a bronze medal in long jump the for a total of 26 points 
    • His clearance of 2.10m in the high jump broke the meet record
  • Kouto Anyika (Philadelphia, Pa./Pennwood) was the third Tigers to capture individual gold, as he won the 400m
  • Anyika, who broke both the meet and school record, 48.47, was also a member of the 4x400m quartet, along with Nafis Zollicoffer (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway West), Tyler Wesley (Hartford, Conn./Bloomfield) and Jade Acevedo (Bronx, N.Y./Mount Saint Michael Academy), that won gold with a meet and school record (3:17.17) 
  • Holy Family went one-two in 110m hurdles, with JoJo Smith (Kingston, Jamaica/Edwin Allen) crossing behind Jones
  • Brian Dietz (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) won bronze, in the 800m, as did the 4x100m quartet of Jones, Zollicoffer, Javon Bowen (Kingston, Jamaica/Jamaica College) and Luckie Tan (Delaware County, Pa./Penn Wood)
  • The Tigers accumulated a team-high 21 points in the triple jump, with Ernest Robertson (Miami, Fla./Palmer Trinity) and Bowen placing sixth and seventh
  • Robertson and Robertson both totaled nine points, with Robertson earning points in the long jump and 400m hurdles, the latter of which was a top five finish, and Bowen joining Pierre in accumulating points in all three jumping events, highlighted by a top five finish in the high jump
  • Tan (100m and 200m) and Anthony Faust (Pennsauken, N.J./Bishop Eustace Preparatory School) (5000m and 10000m) both totaled six points between two events
  • Skyler Salay (Burlington Township, N.J./Burlington Township) posted a top five finish in the high jump, while Shymir Harris (Philadelphia, Pa./Academy at Palumbo) earned multiple points in the hammer
  • Acevedo and Wesley crossed seventh and eighth in the 400m
  • Four other school records fell over the weekend
    •  Jones broke his own school record in the 400m hurdles, 54.11, while Pierre broke his own school record in the long jump (7.01m)
    • Tan broke a five-year-old school record in 200m qualifying (22.23)
    • The 4x100m quartet also broke a school record, 41.89, en route to its bronze
