Hillsdale College announces Chargers' Shura Ermakov named G-MAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week for third time (April 24-May 1)
From May 1, 2023 post.
Shura Ermakov keeps raising the bar for the Hillsdale College Women's Track and Field team.
And the G-MAC office is noticing.
Ermakov was named the G-MAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the third time this season, the conference office announced on Monday, thanks to another sensational performance at the Walsh Tune-Up on Thursday.
The junior continued to shine in her signature event, lowering her provisional mark in the 400m hurdles with a personal best time of 1:00.36 to win the event at Thursday's meet. That time is the second fastest mark in the G-MAC this season, and the 11th best mark in the country, putting Ermakov in solid shape to earn individual qualification to the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships in Pueblo, Colorado at the end of May. Ermakov also finished third in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.20 on Thursday.
The junior is no stranger to competing in national meets on relays, qualifying in the 4x400m relay for the Chargers four times in her career to date, as well as once in the indoor Distance Medley Relay, and earning three All-American honors as a part of those races. She's also a two-time G-MAC Champion and part of Hillsdale's school-record holding indoor and outdoor 4x400m relay teams. She'll be a threat to make the 2023 Outdoor Championships in multiple events as the season goes on.
Ermakov and the Chargers next head to the G-MAC Outdoor Championships hosted by Ashland beginning this Wednesday looking to repeat as conference champions against a tough field of competitors.
