Hilbert College announces Men's Track and Field Team Awards Announced
From May 12, 2023 post.
The Men's Track and Field program completed their inaugural season under Robert Krug's leadership. The Hawks were heavy in the middle-distance events with two sprinters in the mix as they competed against Division I and Division II athletes at every weekend event. The men's team did their best, established multiple personal best times, and set time records just as the program advances forward. They laid the foundation for future success.
Coaches Award: Kenneth Trometer. The junior college transfer has demonstrated the personality, work ethic and ability that the men's team looks to for leadership on the track and field team. Trometer posted his personal bests at the St. John Fisher Cardinal Invite at the conclusion of the season in both the 800m and the 1500m races.
Most Improved Runner Award: Jamal Harris Jr. The first-year collegiate runner made big strides during the track season due to his unparalleled work ethic and focus in training. He did not take days off as he was always looking to improve his technique. Jamal set personal best times at the Cardinal Classic in both eh 200m and 400m races and the program is excited to have him return.
Most Valuable Runner Award: Christopher Davis. Another junior college transfer was Mr. Dependable. He led the Hawks in training sessions and on Meet Day. Davis won his qualifying heat in the 800m twice (Penn State Behrend and Fisher) and 1500m twice (both UB invites) as he glided around the track to lead the Hawks in total points this spring.
