High Point University announces HPU Men Finish Up at UVA Challenge
From April 22, 2023 post.
The High Point University men's track and field team finished competition at the UVA Challenge on Saturday afternoon despite weather delays early on in the day.
Head coach Mike Esposito: "Pretty uneven day for us today. A positive would be getting a few injured athletes back to competition. We need our team leaders to step up and hold everybody accountable. All of our goals are right in front of us. We need to continue to focus on consistent preparation. With that, the results will come. Those student-athletes who struggled this weekend need to have the memory of a goldfish and trust all their hard work to this point."
For the sprinters, Terris Burton II led off the day with a second-place finish in the 400m hurdles, crossing the line in 52.13 seconds. Trent Strachan was 12th in 54.91 seconds as well. Aidan Britt finished 31st in the 200m dash in 22.16 seconds while Isaiah Muse posted a time of 23.51 seconds.
In the 800m run, Jonny House finished 26th in 1:54.34 to wrap up running event for the day.
