Heidelberg Student Princes announces 51 spring athletes earn Academic All-OAC

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – On Thursday, the Ohio Athletic Conference announced Academic All-Conference selections for the spring season. The Student Princes marked back-to-back impressive years with 51 athletes making the list. 

To be eligible for Academic All-OAC status, a student must be of sophomore class standing or higher, maintain varsity status, have been at Heidelberg for at least one full year, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher through the end of fall semester.  

Softball blew the competition out of the water, tallying a conference-best 16 athletes. The closest was Mount Union with ten. Leading the way were seniors, Meghan Bame, Hanna Blasinsky, Caitlin Dems and Jessica Voitko. Representing the junior class was Ryann Ramacciatti, Gabbie Stallbaum, Alyssa Bennett, Emma Dean, Murissa Drown, Kailyn Kroll, Madison Mosier and Lillie Robeson. Payton Scheid and Jade Torres were the sophomores who made the cut. 

This season's 16 honorees is a program high for Heidelberg softball. The previous record was 13, achieved by the 26-15, 2018 squad. The 16 awards also tie the most earned by any team – football has tallied 16 in three seasons. 

Baseball's list included nine scholars. Zane Mirgon represented the senior class. The four juniors were Camden Farley, Dylan Matusak, Vincent Marimpietri and Mac Metz. The sophomores were Jackson Powers, Kyle Krummen, Payton Moser and Andrew Pokley. 

Men's golf improved from one lone athlete in 2021 to a whopping seven this year. Seniors Logan Nicely and Cameron Spraggins were followed by juniors Connor VanSkyock, Camden Rhoades, Andrew Ayres and Chace Boothman. Sophomore Trey Mock rounded out the bunch. 

Men's Lacrosse also increased its recipients this year. Six total men punched their ticket starting with four seniors – Connor Reese, Jaydon Septer, Jacob Brickman and Maximillian Hatty. Sophomores Trevor Ley and Jacob Morgan saw their first award. 

Both the men's and women's track teams each had six honorees. For the men, juniors Jalen Trammell, Nathan Jimenez and Brett Reed. Three sophomores, Clem Foos, Koen Hill and Sean Smith all earned accolades. 

For the women, Liv Bean, Sydney Shaffer and Isabel Chasney represented the senior class. Leanndra Price was the solo junior, followed by sophomores Claire St. Bernard and Reese Recker. 

As a young group of women's golfers became eligible this season, they saw sophomores MacKenzie Haneberg and Hannah Shoffner earn their first honors. 

Last year, the spring athletes pulled in a respectable 49 awards. The 51 this spring is the second-most in a single season, previously set by the 55 spring athletes of 2018. (Note: that year there were 10 teams elligible versus today's seven).
