Grove City places 30th at Division I district wrestling tournament
At the Division I District Wrestling Tournament held at Hilliard Darby High School on March 6–7, 2026, Grove City High School finished 30th overall with 11 team points against a competitive field of nearly 40 schools.
Several Greyhounds earned victories during the two-day tournament. Beckett Randall (190 pounds) recorded the team’s deepest run in the bracket. Randall opened the tournament with a 16–4 major decision victory over Levi Keyes of Hilliard Darby before dropping his quarterfinal match to Dublin Coffman’s Michael Feeney. Randall later picked up another win in the consolation bracket by default before being eliminated in a narrow 5–3 loss to Vince Gamez of Dublin Scioto.
At 165 pounds, Cary Brown also picked up a victory in the consolation bracket. After losing his opening-round match, Brown rebounded with a pin against Maddox Meade of Watkins Memorial before falling to Noah Schuler of Olentangy in the next round.
Heavyweight Jonathan McClelland (285 pounds) earned a first-round 11–4 decision over Lamon Houston of Westland, but was later eliminated after facing strong competition from Dublin Coffman and Hilliard Davidson wrestlers.
Other Grove City wrestlers faced tough draws early in the tournament. Cohen Ortiz (120), Chase Van Order (138), Elijah Gard (144), Max Casey (150), and Tristan Coyle (157) were eliminated during the early rounds of the championship and consolation brackets.
Although Grove City did not produce a state qualifier this year, the Greyhounds gained valuable postseason experience competing against some of the top wrestlers in central Ohio.
