Georgia State University announces Ryerson, Jones Named Preseason All-Sun Belt
ATLANTA -- Georgia State slugger Max Ryerson and two-way standout Cameron Jones were named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference baseball team, as selected by the league head coaches.
Both players were named first-team All-Sun Belt last spring. Ryerson, the senior outfielder from Conway, S.C., was also named a third-team All-America by Collegiate Baseball and the Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year as he led the conference with a school-record 22 home runs.
Jones, a junior from Kathleen, Ga., is a two-time, first-team All-Sun Belt honoree and was one of five finalists for the John Olerud Award as the nation's top two-way player. The left-handed pitcher and right-handed hitting outfielder led the Panthers in ERA (3.00) and batting average (.374).
The Panthers open the 2023 season on Friday, Feb. 17, hosting Cincinnati at 3 p.m. to open a four-game weekend series at the GSU Baseball Complex.
