Furman Paladins announces FURMAN TO COMPETE AT WAKE FOREST, EASTERN KENTUCKY, & SOUTH CAROLINA THIS WEEK

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman track and field teams will compete at three meets this week.  On Friday, the Paladins will run at Eastern Kentucky's Rick Erdmann Twilight meet in Richmond, Ky., and at the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C.  On Saturday, Furman will compete in running events and field events at the USC Open in Columbia, S.C.

On Friday, junior Carson Williams and senior Cameron Ponder will run in the 3,000m Steeplechase at EKU.  The event, which will feature one of the nation's strongest fields, is slated for 8:45 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+. 

At Wake Forest, Furman will participate in the men's 1,500m, 5,000, 10,000m, and 3,000m Steeplechase and in the women's 1,500m, 5,000m, and 10,000m.  The Steeplechase begins at 8:15 p.m. and will be followed by the 1,500m at 8:30 p.m.  The 5,000m is slated for 9 p.m. with the 10,000m to follow at 10:20 p.m.  Portions of Friday's meet can be streamed via ACC Network Extra.

The USC Open will feature Paladin athletes in the men's 100m, 5,000m, and triple jump, while the Furman women will run in the 400m, 1,500m, 5,000m, and 400m intermediate hurdles.  The meet will begin with the women's 5,000m at 9 a.m., and the last Furman event of the day, the women's 400m IH, will start at 5:20 p.m.  

The Paladins opened the season in late March at the Raleigh Relays and the USC Weems Baskin meet.  At Raleigh, senior Adam Beucler posted a personal-best time of 29:05.27 to finish 25th in the men's 10,000m, while sophomore Kaylie Armitage led the Paladins in the women's 1,500m with a PR of 4:23.40 to take 27th place.  Senior Abigail Robertson led the team in the women's 5,000m with a time of 16:23.71 to finish 28th, while sophomore Sierra Bower posted a time of 36:01.51 to finish 38th in the women's 10,000m.  

In Columbia, Mac Roberts and Emily Little won the men's and women's 3,000m respectively.  Roberts posted a personal-best time of 8:28.28 in the event, while Little took golf with a time of 9:56.67.

In early April, Furman placed three runners among the top eight in the women's 5,000m to highlight a strong showing at the Duke Invitational.  Madelynne Cadeau led the Paladins after turning in a time of 16:29.99 to finish third.  Bower finished seventh with a PR of 16:33.78 in the event, followed by freshman Carly Wilkes in eighth place with a personal best of 16:34.66.
