Furman Paladins announces Furman's williams voted socon men's outdoor track athlete of the month

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman's Carson Williams has been voted the Southern Conference Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Month for April, as announced today by the league office.

Williams, a junior from Raleigh, N.C., ran at two meets in April, posting SoCon-leading times in both.  He opened his month at the Duke Invitational on April 7, finishing 11th in the invitational 1,500m run in 3:44.70, which was good for 34th on the on the NCAA Division I East Outdoor Qualifying List at the time.  He ran at Eastern Kentucky's Rick Erdmann Twilight on April 22, finishing fifth in the 3,000m steeplechase in 8:43.56 in his season debut in the event.  That mark currently ranks 12th on the NCAA Division I East Outdoor Qualifying List.  Williams earned SoCon Track Athlete of the Week honors on April 12 and April 26.

The Paladins will compete at the SoCon Championship May 8-9 in Cullowhee, N.C.
