Florida Institute of Technology announces Pollock’s Clutch Hit Leads Panthers to Victory
MELBOURNE, FLA.- Florida Tech Softball returned home to face Barry on Friday night in an SSC showdown. The Buccaneers struck first, but the Panthers rallied scoring two runs in the 3rd inning to secure the win.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: Florida Tech 2, Barry 1
Records: Florida Tech (21-22, 11-14 SSC) | Barry (23-20, 9-10 SSC)

STATS OF THE GAME:
- The Buccaneers came out aggressive in the first inning. A RBI single gave Barry a 1-0 lead.
- In the bottom of the 3rd, Miranda Schwartz got things going with a double to center field.
- With two outs, Layna Pollock's blooper single to right field drove in Schwartz and Ella Niles to give the Panthers a 2-1 lead.
- Barry had the bases loaded in the top of the 5th inning, but Florida Tech was able to work their way out of the jam.
- In the top of the 7th, the Buccaneers threatened Tech with a runner in scoring position, but a ground out ended the game.
- Allison Platon picked up her 11th win of the season. Platon threw 5 innings allowing five hits and just one run. She struck out three batters and walked two.
- Alex Hendrian secured her first save of the season. Hendrian threw two successful innings giving up no runs and just one hit.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Florida Tech is now 30-95 against Barry in the all-time series.
- Layna Pollock extended her hitting streak to five games.
- Mikayla Lewin went 2-3 at the plate with one double on the night.
- Cheyenne Nelson is on a seven-game hitting streak and extended her reached-base streak to 17.
