College of the Holy Cross announces Men's Track and Field Relay Breaks School Record at Dalton Ebanks Invitational

The Holy Cross men's track and field team split the roster on Saturday competing in the UMass Flagship Opener in Amherst, Mass. and the Ebanks Invitational in Fairfax, Va. 

GEORGE MASON HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Junior Chris Barone set a personal best in the 100m dash with a time of 10.81, placing fourth.
  • Junior Mike Mazzocca won the 110m hurdles with a personal best time of 14.41. He then went on to finish first in the high jump with a mark of 1.98m.
  • Sophomore Josh Exantus set a personal best in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.09. He was followed by sophomore Brian Fennelly, who finished eighth with a time of 15.43.
  • Senior Sean Flaherty claimed a personal best in the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.57, earning sixth.
  • Junior Will McAlpine finished fifth in the javelin throw with a mark of 58.21m.
  • The 4x100 relay with Barone, freshman Nyeoti Punni, sophomore Aidan Bergin and Fennelly broke the school record with a time of 42.02, earning fourth. The record was previously set in 2016 with a time of 42.16.

UMASS HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Sophomore William Schimitsch claimed third in the 5000m with a time of 15:30.20. He was followed by senior Liam Christman in fifth with a time of 15:31.14.
  • Sam Baker earned third in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:57.55.

NEXT UP:

  • The Holy Cross men's track and field team returns to action of Friday, April 14. The team will travel to Providence, R.I. to compete in the Friar Invitational.
