College of the Holy Cross announces Men's Track and Field Break Records in Shot Put, 4x100 Relay

The Holy Cross men's track and field team tallied 79 points to claim a fifth-place finish at the Holy Cross Invitational on Saturday.
Freshman Joe Metzger and the 4x100 relay set program records during the debut of the new Hart Track.
TRACK HIGHLIGHTS:
- Senior Liam Christman claimed second in the 5000m with a time of 15:05.33.
- Senior Sean Flaherty clinched first in the 400m hurdles with a time of 55.02. He was followed by senior Cameron Lloyd in sixth (57.43) and sophomore Brian Fennelly (57.67).
- Junior Chris Barone took second in the 100m dash with a time of 10.65.
- Sophomore Stephen Joseph placed seventh in the 400m dash with a time of 51.59.
- Junior Mike Mazzocca earned second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.38, followed sophomore Josh Exantus in third with at 15.11 and Fennelly in fifth with a time of 15.28.
- Freshman Liam Lyons earned fourth in the 1500m with a time of 3:58.07. He was followed by senior Jack Welch in sixth at 4:01.38.
- Sophomore Sam Baker placed fifth in the steeplechase with a time of 6:26.74, followed by junior Auggie Smith in eighth at 6:40.28.
- The 4x400 relay with junior Rigoberto Alfonso, Joseph, junior Matthew Conway and Flaherty earned third with a time of 3:24.33.
- The 4x100 relay with Barone, freshman Nyeoti Punni, sophomore Aidan Bergin and Mazzocca broke the school record with a time of 42.00, earning second. The previous record was set earlier this month.
FIELD HIGHLIGHTS:
- Metzger set the school record in the shot put with a final mark of 15.71m. He broke the record set by Vin Promuto in 1960.
- Junior Will McAlpine claimed fourth in the javelin with a mark of 55.54m, followed by freshman Jack Ryan in sixth at 50.96m.
- Sophomore Kevin Yatsuhashi earned fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.80m.

- The Holy Cross men's track and field team returns to action of Saturday, April 29. The team will travel to North Easton to attend the Skyhawk Invitational hosted by Stonehill.
