College of the Holy Cross announces Bergin and Fennelly Announced to Academic All-patriot League Team

Sophomores Aidan Bergin and Brian Fennelly of the Holy Cross men's track and field team have been named to the Indoor Track & Field Academic All-Patriot League Team, as announced by the league office Wednesday.

Bergin earned a nearly perfect cumulative grade point average with a 3.94. Fennelly, a chemistry major, claimed a 3.86 GPA.

Bergin and Fennelly posted strong performances for the Crusaders throughout the indoor season. Bergin, a native of Madison, New Jersey, claimed a personal best at the Patriot League Championship in the 60m dash, posting a time of 7.08. 
 
Fennelly, from Hingham, Massachusetts, finished 12th in the 60m hurdles and helped his distance medley relay to a fifth-place finish at the Patriot League Championship.

Both men earned Patriot League Academic Honor Roll during their freshmen seasons.

The Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and Academic All-Patriot League team honor student-athletes who excel both on and off the field. The awards are nominated and voted on by the Patriot League track and field sports information directors. To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. 

Bergin, Fennelly and the Holy Cross men's track and field team will begin the outdoor season at the end of the month.
