Clear Creek upsets Dickinson Gators 17-14: Coach says they're focused on getting '1% better each game'

On October 28 the Clear Creek Wildcats (2-7, 1-4) hosted the Dickinson Gators (7-3, 4-2) on the gridiron and while it was a tight game, Clear Creek battled to take an upset 17-14 win.

Clear Creek was charged by a solid rushing attack led by Bryson Drake, who ran the ball 25 times for 102 yards and a touchdown, according to statistics provided by Max Preps. Donovan Coffman had 22 carries for 48 yards in the game. Drake was also 2-for-8 passing for 33 yards.

Dickinson was led by Marquis Johnson who had three carries including a 75 yard touchdown run. He also caught three passes for 65 yards. Brett Bacon went 8-for-18 in the air with 136 yards and a pair of interceptions.

Dickinson Coach John Nelson was not happy with the loss, saying that he doesn’t see any positives from the game. He said to keep the team motivated they need to focus on getting “1% better each game.”

Dickinson went on to play Clear Brook (1-9, 1-5) on November 3 and turned things around with a 45-7 win, putting the team in better momentum going into the playoffs.

Clear Creek is heading to Clear Falls (7-2, 4-1) on November 4 for the final game of the season.
