Benedictine University announces Redhawks Set for NAIA Men's Golf National Championship
MESA, Ariz. – The Benedictine University Mesa men's golf team will participate in the NAIA Men's National Golf Championship hosted by Benedictine at Las Sendas Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.
The field is composed of 156 athletes, 29 teams and 11 individuals. The action will begin on Tuesday with the first wave at 7:00 a.m. PST on Hole 1 and first pairings off Tee 10 twenty minutes later. The afternoon groups will start at 12:00 p.m. local time off the first tee and 12:20 PST on Hole 10.
For Wednesday's round, the groupings will flip afternoon and morning time slots, as well as start on the different half of the course than their previous day. After two full rounds have been completed, the field will be cut.
Tournament format dictates team scores 1-17 will move forward to play the final 36 holes this week. Individuals must be inside the Top 40 to continue through the final two rounds of the championship.
BenU will have Sebastian Carranza, Tony Mike Bonadonna, Easton Donohoe, Ignacio "Nacho" Garcia-Conde, Kaidin Oliver, and Joe Kelly see the field. Ethan Mesch will be the alternate for the Redhawks.
The Redhawks placed second at the Cal Pac tournament behind Embry-Riddle (AZ) who will also be competing at the National Tournament. Carranza placed third individually overall between four ERAU golfers that nearly swept the Cal Pac top five. Bonadonna and Kelly also finished in the top 10 tying for 6th overall.
