Arkansas Tech University announces John Gray named NCBWA Central Region Pitcher of the Week for second time this season

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – A day after being recognized as Great American Conference Pitcher of the Week, Arkansas Tech sophomore right-hander John Gray has been named as the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association (NCBWA) Central Region Pitcher of the Week. The announcement was made by the organization on Wednesday.

This is the second regional Pitcher of the Week honor for Gray and comes after he fired a complete-game shutout against Harding on April 28.

The Youngsville, La. native struck out eight across 9.0 scoreless innings of work, scattering four hits and three walks. He threw 65% of his pitched for strikes and did not allow a runner to reach third base.

The NCBWA Central Region committee consists of 15 voters with five representatives each from the GAC, MIAA and NSIC. Weekly regular season rankings began on February 13 and run through May 8. The Central Region of NCAA DII Baseball is comprised of three conferences – the Great American Conference, the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference – featuring 39 programs spanning nine states.
