Alderson Broaddus University announces Records Fall As Battlers Shine at Ed Fry Invitational
Philippi, W.Va- The Alderson Broaddus University track & field teams competed at two different meets this weekend: the Muskingum Invitational where one Battler competed, and the Ed Fry Invitational. At the Ed Fry Invitational the Battlers finished 4th and 5th at the Ed Fry Invitational this weekend. The men finished 4th with 123 points, and the women finished in 5th with 42 points.
At the Muskingum Invitational Jada Hanson was the lone Battler to compete, placing 10th with a new best score in the heptathlon of 2682, this puts her in the top 12 in the conference.
Men Top Performances at Ed Fry Invitational
Devon Napier finished 1st in the 100, running a 10.93, followed by Isaiah Jean 11.17 in 5th, Calvin Blunt 11.18 in 5th.
Shelton Bass set a new school record in the 200, running a 21.66 finishing 1st, followed by Napier 21.95 in 2nd, and Blunt 22.75 PR in 6th. Bass also finished the 400 with another school record, and national qualifying time of 47.74 to finish 1st.
Nathan Jacobs finished 2nd in the 800 with a new college best time of 1:58.50.
Jonathan Nagalo finished 3rd in the 400 hurdles with a new PR of 56.46.
The quartet of Jean, Bass, Blunt, and Napier finished the 4x100 in 2nd running a season best time of 42.85.
The quartet of Jacobs, Napier, Nagalo, and Bass finished the 4x400 in 2nd with a season best time of 3:22.01.
Cameron Tropeck finished 8th long jump and high jump with a jump of 5.56m, and 1.78m respectively.
Micah Harrison finished 1st in discus with a throw of 43.82m, and 4th in shot put throwing 11.92m. Cedric Carter finished 1st in shot put throwing 13.78m, 7th in discus with a throw of 37.25m, and 6th in hammer throw with a throw of 34.94m. Jacob Sharp finished in 5th in hammer throw with a throw of 36.67. Micah Swann finished 5th in shot put with a throw of 11.91m.
Women Top Performances at Ed Fry Invitational
Bellela Colas finished 8th in the 100, running a 13.29 which is a new season best.
Desiree Knotts finished in 9th in the 200 with a time of 27.57, which is a new lifetime best.
Layla James finished 2nd in the 800 with a time of 2:19.74, followed by Trinity Bumbry in 4th with a new college best time of 2:28.19.
In the 10K, Adra Schell finished 2nd with a time of 46:16.81.
In the 100 hurdles, Kaylie Laskody finshed in 5th with a new PR of 17.41. She also finished high jump in 5th with a jump of 1.50m which is a new season best.
The quartet of Colas, Justice Washington, Shaam Al-Natour, Knotts finished the 4x100 in 1st with a time 51.79.
In long jump, Washington in 8th with a jump of 4.60m.
