Alderson Broaddus University announces Battlers Track & Field Have Two Champions Crowned at MEC Championships
Frostburg, MD- The Alderson Broaddus University track & field teams closed the season out at the MEC Outdoor Track Championship at Frostburg State University with two champions. The teams also had thirteen top-8 finishes at the meet.
Champions:
Shelton Bass went on to defend his title in the 400 with a hard fought win. He ran a time of 48.32 to win the race.
Micah Harrison won the hammer throw with a throw of 50.94m. His throw shocked the competition, as he went on to PR by 3 meters.
Point Scorers:
Devon Napier finished in sixth in the 100 with a time of 10.95, he also finished in 6th in the 200 with a time of 22.29.
Shelton Bass finished in eighth in the 200 with a time of 23.74.
Trinity Bumbry finished in seventh in the 400 with a time of 61.76.
Layla James finished in second in the 800, following a third place finish indoor with a time of 2:18.32.
Micah Harrison finished in third in discus with a throw of 43.94m.
Kaylie Laskody finished in fourth in the high jump, with a jump of 1.52m.
Cedric Carter finished in fourth in shot put, with a throw of 14.40m.
Micah Swann finished in eighth in shot put, with a throw of 12.79m.
The women finshed in seventh in the 4x100 (51.72 a season best time), a team of Bellela Colas, Justice Washington, Shaam Al-Natour, and Desriee Knotts, and sixth in the 4x400 (4:13.30 a season best time), a team of James, Colas, Knotts, and Bumbry.
The men finished in sixth both in the 4x100 (43.29), a team of Calvin Blunt, Napier, Nathan Jacobs, and Bass, and 4x400 (3:29.53), a team of Napier, Jacobs, Vernon Smith, and Jonathan Nagalo.
