Alderson Broaddus University announces Battler Collegiate Invitational Ends With a New Name Added To Record Books
Philippi, W.Va- The Alderson Broaddus track & field team had a good showing and turnout at the Battler Collegiate Invitational. There were seven teams that came into Philippi to compete at the home meet, and made it a successful day.
The men had 23 in the top-8, and of that 6 finished first. In the 100, Devon Napier finished first followed by Calvin Blunt in fourth. In the 200, Napier finished first followed by Nathan Jacobs in fifth, and Jonathan Nagalo in seventh. In the 400, Jacobs was the winner followed by Nagalo in second, Abiodun Soneye in sixth, and Jameal Boykin in eighth.In the 800, Andrew Nephew had a new PR finishing in seventh while Vernon Smith finished in eighth. In the 1500, Alexander Cockerham finished in third. In discus, Micah Harrison finished in first, Cedric Carter finished in seventh, and Jacob Sharp finished in eighth. In javelin, Sharp finished in first, followed by Carter in fifth, Greysen Gerth in seventh, and Harrison in eighth. In pole vault, Gerth finished in first. In shot put, Carter finished in third, Micah Swann finished in fifth, and Harrison finished sixth.
The women had 13 in top-8, and of that 2 finished in first. In the 100, Shaam Al-Natour finished. In the 100 hurdles, Kaylie Laskody finished in fourth with a new PR. In the 200, Al-Natour finished in fifth, followed by Desiree Knotts in seventh. In the 400, Bellela Colas finished with a new PR in fifth, followed by Justice Washington in seventh, and Knotts in eighth. In the 1500, Olivia Kqira finished in eighth. In the 5000, Adra Schell finished in third. In the high jump, Kaylie Laskody hit a new PR and tied the school record with a jump of 1.55m. In the javelin, Jada Hanson finished in fifth. In the long jump, Washington finished in first. The women's 4x100 team hit a new season best time and finished in first.
This was the last regular season meet for the Battlers, where we also celebrated he careers of three wonderful seniors who have helps mold the new shape of what AB Track & Field has become. A message from Coach Paris to the seniors "I love you three, you took me in as a young coach your freshman year and we all have grown together and have broken some records along the way. I hope you all continue to flourish in your lives after track, and continue being your better self."
The Battlers are back in action this weekend at the Mountain East Conference Championship April 30-May 1. The meet starts at 12:00 on April 30 starting with the Decathlon.
