Alderson Broaddus University announces 2023 AB Softball Preview
Nikki Nuzum takes on her second year as Alderson Broaddus's head softball coach. Nuzum comes into the season after leading the Battlers to a 20-win season in 2022 which was a 19-win improvement over the previous year.
"We are going into this year not being satisfied from last season, we are happy we did well but we are not going to dwell," Said Nuzum
The team had a great season in 2022 winning 20 games and putting themselves in a great position to keep improving the program. The team has some key players this year who will look to help them improve their record going into the 2023 season.
The Battlers saw the departure of five seniors including Jordan Keneally, who was the strikeout leader in 2022. However, the team will still have a great group of leaders who will be able to follow in their footsteps.
We are still a young team however we have one more year of experience under our belt," Said NuzumThe team will go into the season being led by 17 underclassmen and only 5 upperclassmen. Although the team is young, they have a positive attitude and look forward to competing. The team will be led by the three seniors on the team: Riley Vunak, Hailee Culbertson, and Meadow Uncapher.
" The team motto going into the season is Moving Mountains, as we look to move through every obstacle thrown at us," said Nuzum
The Battlers will kick off their season with three doubleheaders vs Mercy College, Felician University, and Molloy University. The games will all be played in North Myrtle Beach from February 17th to the 19th.
