Albion College announces Track and field competes in final tune up before MIAAs

WHEATON, Ill. – Over the weekend, the Albion College track and field teams were split, as a majority of the roster competed at Wheaton University, while most throwers went to Ohio Northern University. Below is a listing of top eight finishers from the weekend. 

In Illinois, Avery Campbell won the 200m dash with a time of 25.45. With a time of 12.35 the junior also won the 100m dash. Ronnie Puczkowski was fourth in the 200m dash, with a race of 23.20.

Albion went 2-3-4-5 in the men's 1000m dash. Will Davis (10.96) was second, as DaMario Chapman ran a 11.03 to take third. Puczkowski and Colby Taylor Browning were fourth and fifth in the event. 

Omar Gordon Jr. won the triple jump, as Puczkowski was just behind him in second. The two recorded jumps of 13.08m and 12.65m. King was fifth for the Britons. 

Chuckie King's time of 52.54 earned him a third place finish in the 400m dash. 

Henry Wehrly won the long jump with a leap of 6.10m. 

Junior Colette Askins's time of 1:11.67 earned her a second place finish in the 400m hurdles. 

The men's 4x100 relay team was narrowly edged out, taking second place. The team was composed of Puczkowski, Davis, Chapman and Gordon Jr. 

Lindsey Walicki took fifth in the long jump with a mark of 4.12m. Freshman Morgan Wirtz was eighth in the event (3.90).

Sophomore KingDavid Adedapo placed second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 57.91. Ronnie Puczkowski was fourth in the 200m dash, with a race of 23.20.

With a time of 14.90, Nayaisha Alexander Edmond won the 100m hurdles. 

Bianca Wiegerink was fifth in the 1500 meter run, clocking in at 5:23.74.

Peyton Smith was second in the triple jump for Albion. 

Larry Reed Jr. and Adedapo went 3-4 in the 110m hurdles. 

In Ohio, Mason Darden won the hammer throw with a toss of 52.39m. Junior Eddie Hines's throw of 47.74m earned him a fifth place finish. 

With a throw of 40.60m, sophomore Tess Anthony was fourth in the women's hammer throw. Ashley Booth finished eighth with a throw of 38.80m.

Hines, Darden and Connor Dewan all finished in the top five in discus. Hines was second, setting a new PR of 45.29m. Dewan took fourth (44.07m) and Darden finished fifth (42.46m).

Later, Anthony went on to take third in the shot put with a mark of 12.27m. Hines was third on the men's side for the Britons, recording a toss of 15.15m.

Anthony finished the weekend by taking fifth in the discus as well. 

Both teams will prepare for the MIAA Championships, held May 4-5 at Olivet College.
