Albion College announces McCulloch sets school record in 5K

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Megan McCulloch has added one more piece of history to her phenomenal career at Albion College. 

Over the weekend, McCulloch and Samantha Bieth competed at the WashU Distance Carnival. In the 5,000 meter run, McCulloch set a new school record, turning in a time of 17:01.89. The senior shattered the school record by 10 seconds, previously held by Cassie Vince in 2018. 

In her first outdoor meet after injury, Bieth ran an 11:55.35 in the 3000 meter steeplechase. 

Following this weekend's meet, McCulloch ranks seventh nationally in the 5K and first in the MIAA. Bieth sits 40th in the nation with a month full of meets to go. 

Bieth and McCulloch will compete Friday as Albion hosts a Triangular with Trine and Alma. Field events commence at 2 p.m. with running events set to start at 3:30.
