ALBION – The pitching struggles continue for the Albion College baseball team, as the squad was swept by Kalamazoo College on Tuesday afternoon. Kalamazoo dominated the opener, 17-2, before winning the nightcap, 13-6.

In the second game, Mark Lauro was 4 for 5 with 2 RBI and a home run. Junior catcher Matt McGann was 3 for 4 for the Britons.

The Hornets used 12 free passes allowed by Albion pitchers to take game one. The Brits recorded just five hits in the game, with Evan Schuster driving in a run.

Kalamazoo exploded for a 9-spot in the nightcap, holding an 11-1 lead midway through the game. In the sixth, Albion put together a two-out rally to cut the deficit to 11-5. Carson Dunn and Patrick Merolla singled, as an error allowed the pair to advance 90 feet. Ryker Mazey drove a ball to left field to drive in the pair and give the Brits their second and third runs of the game.

Lauro followed with a no-doubt homer to right, cutting the deficit to 11-5.

Kalamazoo answered with runs to put the game out of reach.

Albion looks to rebound tomorrow when they play a single game at Olivet. First pitch against the Comets is at 4 p.m.
