Adrian College announces Baseball Grabs Game One Winner in Three Game Set with Albion

ALBION, Mich. – The Adrian College baseball team grabbed a series opening victory on Friday afternoon as they opened up with Albion College on the road. The Bulldogs went on to win 9-3 on Friday with the help of a six-run seventh inning, and another quality start from Daniel Gutierrez.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Adrian and Albion were scoreless through the first four innings until the Bulldogs scored three in the top of the fifth.
- Edward Wagner drove in a run on a sacrifice fly to lead 1-0 followed by an Albion error off the bat of Alejandro Montada that drove in two more to lead 3-0.
- Gus Weaks singled in a run in the seventh inning followed by a RBI double from AJ Miranda and a 2-RBI single from Logan Loeffler.
- With the bases loaded, David Kedrow was hit by a pitch which followed with a sacrifice fly from Jack Boike to lead 9-0.
- Albion responded in the bottom of the third with a RBI ground out and a 2-run homer.
- Gutierrez picked up his sixth win of the season after tossing seven innings allowing three runs on three hits with eight strikeouts.
- Joe Toth closed out the game with a pair of scoreless innings in relief allowing just one hit.
UP NEXT
The Bulldogs will turn around and host Albion College tomorrow afternoon in a doubleheader starting a 1:00 PM at Nicolay Field.
