Adrian College announces Baseball Drops MIAA Contest to Trine in a 15 Inning Battle

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Adrian College baseball team is coming off a season finale split with Calvin University on Monday where they went on to win the series two games to one. On Tuesday, the Bulldogs traveled to Trine University for game one of a spread out three-game series. It took 15 innings to decide a winner where things went in favor of Trine, defeating Adrian 6-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trine took a 1-0 lead early in the bottom of the first on an RBI single up the middle.
- In the second, Tyler Whitfield tied the game for the Bulldogs with an RBI bunt single.
- In the third, Trine made it a 3-1 game with an RBI single and an RBI double.
- Adrian went on to take the lead in the fourth inning. Joe Casale doubled in a run followed by a Trine error and an RBI single from David Kedrow to lead 4-3.
- Trine doubled in a pair of runs in the fifth inning to retake the lead, 5-4.
- Jack Boike hit a solo home run in the top of the eighth to tie the game 5-5.
- The Bulldogs and the Thunder went to the 15th inning when Trine walked it off with an RBI single with the bases loaded.
- Jakob Charles led the Bulldogs with four hits on the afternoon to go with a walk.
- Don Goodes got the start for Adrian throwing 4.1 innings allowing five runs on six hits.
- Gage Ricker was a star on the mound in relief throwing 6.2 innings allowing no runs on three hits with six strikeouts.
UP NEXT
Adrian heads back on the road on Friday, April 7 when they open a three-game series with Hope College at 4:00 PM in Holland, Michigan. On Saturday, the Bulldogs will host Hope for a doubleheader to finish the series starting at 1:00 PM.
