Mansfield, Mass. - With the outdoor track and field season officially underway, the Northeast-10 Conference office has announced it's Coaches' Polls, revealing the Adelphi University women were selected third and the men, sixth.

The female squad returns big competitors from a year ago, and adds a huge point-earner in Kyria Moore in the throwing events. Adelphi's women won seven medals at last year's NE10 outdoor championship, including the 4x400 defended its relay title for the third consecutive outdoor season, all to place fifth in the field.

The Marsh sisters will return to defend their 1-2 finish in the outdoor 800, an event they both attended the 2023 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship for earlier this month. In last year's championship, they were also instrumental in the success of the 4x400 and 4x800, which both medaled at the indoor conference meet this year.

On the men's side, Matt Gemma returns as the steeplechase champion to lead four medals from last season where the team placed sixth. Matthew Wenz, who earned bronze in this year's indoor high jump and led the heptathlon going into the final event will return to the decathlon where he placed third last season. He topped the field in the shotput, discus and javelin and was second or third in four other events. His shotput distance of 12.51m is a new career-high and .02 meters better than the next competitor out of Saint Rose.

Adelphi's spring schedule is both regional and national as they compete at William & Mary, Bucknell and Virginia while also hitting conference powerhouse American International and the annual Penn Relays.

The team opened the season at the Monmouth Opener last weekend, where Moore placed first in the hammer, successfully throwing the fourth best distance in Division II to earn a provisional mark and set herself up for a return to NCAAs.
