Adams State University announces Matt Bathauer named All-Academic

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Adams State University junior Matt Bathauer was selected to the 2022 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Baseball First Team Academic All-Conference as announced by conference officials on Thursday. The RMAC All-Academic team is nominated and voted on by the league's sports information directors.

Matt Bathauer holds a 3.61 GPA while pursuing a degree in Business Marketing. On the field Bathauer is batting .420 as he has played in all 41 games for the Grizzlies. He has eight home runs and 35 RBI  while drawing 15 walks and getting plunked three times.

In addition, five other Grizzlies earned Honor Roll status. The five Grizzlies to be named to the Honor Roll include senior Paul Giglio, who holds a 3.32 GPA while majoring in Kinesiology. Payton Brown holds a 3.95 GPA while double majoring, Chris Gracia holds a 3.31 GPA while majoring in Business Admin. Cesar Loma holds a 3.39 GPA and is majoring in Business Admin, Wilhelm Lorenz has a 3.79 and is majoring in Business Admin while Mike Bathauer is majoring in Business Management with a 3,78 GPA.

Colorado Mesa's Harrison Rodgers is the 2023 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Baseball Academic Player of the Year.

There are seven institutions represented among the 11 student-athletes on the 2023 RMAC All-Academic First Team. Colorado School of Mines leads the way with a trio of selections

The Grizzlies return to action on Friday when they host UCCS for the final games at home for the season with first pitch set for 12:00 p.m.
