OAKLAND, Calif. – Though the first pitch had been thrown and three innings had been played with ART U in the lead, Saturday's series opener between Academy of Art baseball and Sonoma State was paused once before being halted for the rest of the day with plans to resume tomorrow at 1 p.m.

On a wet and blustery day at Laney College, first pitch was tossed at 1:04 p.m. and saw a combined six runs scored despite the tough conditions. While both teams scored once in the opening frame, the first delay came during the home half in the first with two outs. By the time of the second stoppage of the day which occurred two innings later, the Urban Knights enjoyed a 5-1 advantage before the game was officially postponed at 3:00 p.m.

Today's contest will be resumed tomorrow beginning at 1 p.m. from Laney College, while the second half of today's doubleheader (seven-inning game) will be scheduled to take place 30 minutes upon the conclusion of tomorrow's continuation. Tomorrow's originally scheduled nine-inning game will be rescheduled for a later time.
