Middlebury College announces Panthers Dominate Field Events at Middlebury’s New England Small College Invite

The women's track and field team shined in the field events at Middlebury's New England Small College Invite, with six athletes finishing in the top-three across four disciplines. The Panthers served as the host of the event at the TRACK at New Balance, with all 11 NESCAC institutions in attendance. 

 

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Rookie Julia Tulimieri won the shot put with a lob of 12.22m/40'1.75".
  • Cady Barns claimed the crown in the long jump, leaping to a mark of 5.53m/18'1.75". Macy Daggitt was one spot back in second with a distance of 5.48m/17'11.75". Barns placed third in the triple jump (11.36m/37'3.75"), while Daggitt matched that showing in the high jump with a height of 1.56m/5'1.25".  
  • Mary Scott Robinson earned runner-up honors in the weight throw (14.35m/47'1"), while finishing in fourth in the shot put (11.33m/37'2.25"). Jaxon Palmer was two spots back in the weight throw with a toss of 13.27m/43'6".
  • The distance medley relay quartet of Audrey GrimesElle ThompsonTatum Peskin and Kate Kenny earned second place with a clocking of 12:26.42.
  • In the 400m, Ciara Dale was the second sprinter to cross the finish line (59.11), while Anna Krouse was ninth (1:00.65) in a field of 48 competitors. 
  • Emily Rubio advanced to the finals of the 60m hurdles, finishing third with a time of 9.10 seconds. Katie Bruno also qualified for the finals in the 60m dash, placing seventh (8.14). 
  • Bea Parr finished third in the 3,000m, stopping the clock in 10:21.61.
  • In the 200m, Melissa White placed third (26.21), Eva Kaiden was sixth (26.47) and Barns was ninth with a personal-best time of 26.56.
  • Kenny rounded out the individual third-place finishes with a time of 2:20.17 in the 800m, while Peskin was ninth in the same event (2:21.88). 
  • In the final event of the day, Kaiden, Annabel Cloney, Mary Elliot and Dale combined for a third-place finish (4:02.16) in the 4x400m relay. 

NOTES

  • Robinson's toss in the weight throw was a personal best, smashing her previous record.
  • Daggitt's recorded personal-best marks in both the long and high jumps. 
  • In the weight throw, Palmer had a personal-best lob. 
  • Dale recorded a personal record in the 400m. 
  • Kenny shaved almost seven seconds off her personal-best time in the 800m, while Peskin dropped three seconds in the event.

The Panthers head to Plattsburgh State on Wednesday, February 8 for a mid-week meet.
