Middle Tennessee State University announces Akintola named C-USA Athlete of the Week

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Conference USA announced on Tuesday the Track and Field Athletes of the Week, including Middle Tennessee's Alaba Akintola as Male Track Athlete of the Week.
 
Akintola ran in both the 100-meter and 200-meter events at the Crimson Tide Invitational last weekend. He took first place in both events and set a new season-best time of 10.14s in the 100-meter.
 
The senior from Ondo, Nigeria's time in the 100-meter ranks 19th nationally for the outdoor season and second in C-USA. In the 200-meter, Akintola's time of 20.43s ranks 20th nationally and leads C-USA for this outdoor season. Both times will qualify him for the NCAA Regionals.
 
What's next for the Blue Raiders?
 
The men's and women's track and field teams will be in Nashville this weekend for the Music City Challenge on April 28-29.
