Michigan Technological University announces Huskies Prepped for Platteville Opener

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech track & field team has added the Platteville Opener to the schedule after the cancellation of the season opener in the St. Norbert's Early Bird Invite last weekend (Mar. 25).
Tech will travel a roster of 43 to the Platteville Opener hosted by UW-Platteville on Saturday, April 1.
Both Fields events and running events will start at 11 a.m., with live results being available here.
Last Time Out
A small contingent of Huskies made the trip to Raleigh, North Carolina, to compete in the Raleigh Relays from Thursday (Mar. 23) to Saturday (Mar. 25).
In total, the distance squad amassed five NCAA Provisional Qualifying times paired with a school record in the men's 10,000m.
Drew Kolodge etched his name in the record books, breaking the school record in the 10,000m on Friday night by over three seconds with his 29:43.24 efforts ranking him eighth in the nation.
Sam Lange and Clayton Sayen were the first to turn out provisional marks coming in the metric mile where Lange won heat sixth in 3:47.18 while Sayen placed sixth in the 13th heat on Thursday afternoon.
Lange currently sits in third among the field of provisional qualifiers over 1,500m.
Sayen bested eight student-athletes from division I institutions en route to his 3:47.98 season opener and returned to the track on Saturday to run 1:51.30 to take sixth-place in the 14th heat.
The Houghton native was tabbed the GLIAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week for his performances. Nationally, Sayen ranks fourth in the 1,500m and 10th in the 800m.
Senior Jesse Jacobusse had to battle in the eighth heat of the women's 800m but came away victorious by the smallest of margins (2:10.657) over Butler's Katherine Olsen (2:10.659) to hit the provisional standard and currently sits fourth in the nation.
Senior Michelle Bollini also competed at Raleigh Relays, placing 29th in her heat of the 10,000m in a time of 37:39.94 on Thursday night.
