Lander University announces Tyler Overholt named PBC Freshman of The Week

MARTINEZ, Ga. - For the fourth time in the last five weeks and for the third consecutive time, the Lander baseball team has earned the PBC Freshman of The Week award.

The conference office announced Tyler Overholt on Monday as the FOTW.

The Redshirt freshman from Abbeville, S.C., was a menace out of the pen the past week. He earned two wins in three appearances while pitching 4.1 innings of work. Overholt finished the week with eight strikeouts, an ERA of 0.00, just three hits allowed and an opposing batting average of .188.

He pitched at least an inning in all three appearances. Against Limestone he threw one inning while striking out all three batters he faced.

Against Georgia College, Overholt pitched twice and collected both wins. He threw 3.1 innings against the Bobcats with five combined strikeouts and no allowed runs to earn the win in game one and three of the series.

Lander hits the road this coming week with a trip to Limestone on Tuesday and Flagler starting on Friday.
