From May 4, 2023 post.
MARTINEX, Ga. - A pair of Bearcats were named to the PBC All-Conference team as announced by the conference office on Thursday.
Will McClellan and Connor Droze represented the Bearcats on the PBC First Team.
Lander has had a player named to the All-Conference First Team the past three seasons.
McClellan was named to the All-Conference First Team as both a catcher and the UTL spot.
Primarily playing catcher, but seeing time in left field this season for the Bearcats, the redshirt freshman was a sparkplug offensively.
Named as the conference Freshman of The Week three times this season, McClellan batted .295/.445/.506, and finished the regular season second in hits (52), first in doubles (13), tied for first in triples (3), second in home runs (6), first in RBI (42) and was tied for first in walks (44).
He also stole seven bases while also throwing out 13 runners behind the plate.
Droze, who was named the PBC Freshman of The Year last season along with being named to the All-Conference Second Team, led Lander in home runs (8) and slugging percentage (.529).
Playing and starting 43 games in the DH spot, Droze finished the regular season with a .307/.385/.529 line and was second in runs (40), fifth in hits (43), second in RBI (37) and was tied for first with McClellan in walks (44). Droze also went a perfect 4-for-4 with stolen bases.
The Bearcats begin the PBC Tournament in Young Harris, Ga., against USC Aiken on Friday, May 5 with a 6 pm start.
