Husson University announces Kauppila misses cut by three strokes as men's golf bows out of 2023 NCAA Championship

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. - After two rounds at Keene Trace Golf Club in the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Golf National Championship, the Husson men's golf team will not be continuing into the next round after carding a 310 the first day and finishing their second round of play on Wednesday morning with an immensely improved 302. The Eagles bowed out of competition in 31st out of 43 teams.
Following the first two rounds of play, the field was cut to the top 18 teams and the top-six individuals belonging to teams which either did not make the cutline or were competing as individuals outright entering the week. Junior Chris Kauppila was just three strokes shy of making the cut as an individual after shooting a 72 on day two to finish the tournament with a 148, which placed him tied for 65th before the field was cut.
Junior Jack King shot a 75 on day two finishing with a 152 after carding a 77 in the first round of competition on Tuesday. Senior Max Woodman carded a 77 on the day and finished with a 153. Junior Will Kavanaugh chipped in with a 78 on the day to finish with an overall score of 159. Senior Cade Charron rounded out the scoring for the Eagles on the day by firing a 79 on Keene Trace Golf Club's 6,974-yard Champion Course to finish the Championship with a two-day score of 160.
The Husson University men's golf team will return to action in the fall of 2023.
