Howard University announces Men's Golf Takes Control at the PGA Works Collegiate Championships.

BESSEMER, Ala. (May 9, 2023) – Howard University men's golf team took control after round two at the PGA Works Collegiate Championships (PWCC), shooting 14-under par (270) on the day with 25 birdies and three eagles. Today's action was played on Bent Brook Golf Course (par-71, 6,861 yards).
After 36 holes, HU holds a 34-stroke lead with one round remaining.
Overall, all five Bison are sitting in the top 15, including four golfers in the top 5.
Senior Everett Whiten Jr. (Chesapeake, Va.) and Marcus Smith Jr. (Rockford, Ill.) are tied for second overall after posting six-under par (137) in two days.
Junior Curtis Merritt (Wareham, Mass.) jumped four spots after shooting 5-under par (66) Tuesday afternoon. Currently, the Massachusetts native sits in fourth place (138, -5).
Two-time PWCC Champion senior Gregory Odom Jr. (Memphis, Tenn.) rounded out the top 5, recording a 3-under par (68) performance on the day. He registered 4-under par (139) in 36 holes of action.
Third-year Bison Joshua Siplin (Orlando, Fla.) had the biggest leapfrog on the afternoon, hopping 14 spots in the player standings. The Florida product shot 2-under par (69) Tuesday and tied for 14th overall.
Alabama A&M holds second behind the Bison (585, +13), followed by North Carolina A&T State in third place (588, +16).
Chicago State's Kieran Hogarth remains atop the player standings, shooting seven-under par (136) in 36 holes of action.
The action concludes Wednesday (May 10) with the third and final round, beginning at 10 a.m.
