Howard Payne University announces Three Yellow Jackets Named Academic All-District

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The College Sports Communicators today announced the 2023 Baseball Academic All-District Teams and Howard Payne University's Tanner Benson, JT Howard, and Samuel Lampson were recognized on this year's list.

Tanner Benson
Finishing third on the team in average at .321, Benson was named ASC Player of the Week after finishing 9-for-16 in a series at Sul Ross State and going 6-for-7 in one game versus the Lobos.

JT Howard
Being named HPU's Outstanding Male Scholar-Athlete, JT made eight appearances and started two games for the Yellow Jackets recording 15 strikeouts in 15.2 innings pitched.

Samuel Lampson
Leading the ASC in hit-by-pitches (10), Lampson was fourth on the team hitting .315 at the plate.

The 2023 Academic All-District® Baseball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field or court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early June.
