Howard Payne University announces Eight Players Named To Baseball All-Conference Teams

RICHARDSON, Texas – Today, the American Southwest Conference announced the 2023 Baseball All-Conference Teams and eight players from Howard Payne University were recognized on this year's lists.

Kayden Kelley- Second Team (C) / Honorable Mention (UT)
Kelley Started in 31 games for the Jackets, recording 49 hits, 26 RBI, six doubles, one home run, and scored 29 runs. He had a season high of five hits and four RBI against Sul Ross State University.

Joey Villarreal- Second Team (SS)
Starting in 35 games this season, Villarreal recorded 41 hits, 21 RBI, 10 doubles, and scored 30 runs. He had a season high at Sul Ross State University with four hits, three doubles, four runs, and three RBI.

Brayden Ferrie- Second Team (SP)
Pitching 54.2 innings this season, Ferrie had a total of 44 strikeouts and had seven wins for the Yellow Jackets. He had a season high of seven strikeouts versus Hardin-Simmons University.

Tanner Benson- Third Team (OF)
Benson started in 33 games this season. He recorded a total of 44 hits, 35 RBI, nine doubles, two triples, three home runs, and scored 28 runs. Benson had a season high of six hits, two home runs, five runs, and five RBI against Sul Ross State University. He was also named ASC hitter of the week, where he became the 11th player in ASC history to record six hits in a single game, going 6-for-7.

Seth Bowman- Honorable Mention (1B)
Starting in 37 games for the Yellow Jackets, Bowman had a total of 43 hits, 19 RBI, six doubles, two home runs, and scored 29 runs. He had a season high of three hits versus Hardin-Simmons University.

William Burford- Honorable Mention (OF)
Burford started in 38 games for the Jackets. He recorded 43 hits, 30 RBI, nine doubles, four home runs, and scored 23 runs. Burford had a season high of four hits and two doubles against Schreiner University.

Landon Prestage- Honorable Mention (DH)
Starting in 19 games, Prestage had a total of 25 hits, 17 RBI, eight doubles, three home runs, and scored 15 runs for the Yellow Jackets. He had a season high of four hits and five RBI at Sul Ross State University.

Bryson Adare- Honorable Mention (RP)
Pitching 27.1 innings for the Yellow Jackets, Adare recorded a total of 21 strikeouts and had 10 wins. He had a season high at Southwestern University with four strikeouts.
