RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - After a 3-1 week, including a series sweep against Southwestern Oklahoma State in the conference opener, Henderson State baseball's Luke Farrar was named the Great American Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. This is Farrar's first time to win the weekly award in his two seasons with the program.

In the past week, the Reddies fell to Mississippi College in a midweek game, 18-8, before defeating SWOSU in three consecutive contests, 14-8, 6-5, and 5-3. In those four games, Farrar hit .400 with six hits, including one double and three home runs, nine RBIs and five runs scored.

After notching two hits, including one of his weekly three homers, and four RBIs against the Choctaws to get the week started, the Calhoun, Louisiana native set the offensive tone on game one of the series with the Bulldogs, tallying another two hits, both of which were home runs and four RBIs. The former Brookhaven College-transfer became the first Reddie since Bryson Haskins back on April 23, 2022 to record two homers in one game.

After crossing the plate for a single run in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, Farrar added another two hits in the series finale, going 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, a run scored and an RBI on a sacrifice fly that scored HSU's final run in the 5-3 victory.

Since becoming a consistent piece in Henderson's starting lineup this season, Farrar is second on the team with a .361 batting average while pacing the team with 12 RBIs and is tied for the team-lead with three home runs (Luke Rice).

Farrar and the Reddies will now look to make it back-to-back GAC series victories when they head west to Alva, Oklahoma to face Northwestern Oklahoma State in a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. followed by a single game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
